What should I expect at my 1st consultation?
You will be asked a series pf questions pertaining to your symptoms and general health.
This includes details of all pelvic floor related functions (bladder and bowel habits and patterns).
A digital vaginal examination (no use of instruments) will be performed to assess the efficiency of the pelvic floor.
Feedback will be given regarding findings, and together we decide on ‘what now’.
Do I have to have an internal examination? I had one last week at my Gynaecologist…?
Yes, you do. Having said that, we do not examine when you are menstruating. And no one will be forced into an examination against their will.
The examination is very different to a gynaecologist’s.
Different aspects of the pelvic floor are assessed. The focus here is on FUNCTION of the existing muscles.
If you aren’t examined, you may as well rely on info off the web…! No-one can tell you how well you are using the muscles without assessing them. This cannot be done simply by looking at you.
What if I'm menstruating?
You should phone and postpone your appointment until after your period.
Is it a medical aid rate?
The above rates are costed according to stipulated (and accepted) medical aid rates. (The National Health Price Reference List.)
A ‘consumables’ code is not paid out by the medical aids.
The practice is a CASH PRACTICE – you are responsible for settling your account, whereafter a receipt will be given to you to submit to your medical aid, who will reimburse you directly.
Where are the rooms?
