The Pelvic Floor - Which is WHAT exactly?
The pelvic floor is the sling, or hammock, of muscles that forms the floor of the pelvis. It is comprised of numerous little muscles all working together in unison. This ‘muscle unit' provides support for our internal organs (preventing prolapse), keeps our holes closed (preventing incontinence), and allows us to participate in sexual activity.
When it is not functioning properly, certain problems occur. Some of the more common problems are:
